Ruby is the fiery red member of the corundum family of crystals; it displays a richness that is incomparable with any other form of crystal. A true ruby of value is of unmistakable brilliant red and very rare.

For the longest time the gemstone crystal Spinel, has masqueraded as the gemstone crystal Ruby since it grew nearby Rubies and displays the most beautiful color of red. Actually, it is Spinel that has been mistaken for a vast number of legendary rubies. In fact, down through history Spinel has been listed as Ruby. However, true rubies are luxuriously red and are quite rare to come by.

Rubies:  History and Superstition

For thousands of years, the ruby has found reverence in India as being superior to all other crystals, since it transmits such a vividly intense vibration. It is a crystal steeped deeply in history, since rubies have adorned many houses of royalty with its rich, passionate, fiery brilliance. It has the ability to inspire courage, leadership and prosperity as well as passion. It is useful in developing the gifts of intuition and various psychic gifts, while increasing the connection to angelic beings, animal totems and spirit guides. A crystal was useful in Atlantis for its abilities to increase psychic gifts and talents as well as astral projections.

The ruby is another crystal to adorn the Breastplate of Aaron, while reminding us of the apostle Matthew as well as being a crystal mentioned by the Prophet Isaiah in his book of prophecy. Rubies promote generosity, bliss, creativity, spirituality, wisdom and prosperity, while being a protective crystal.

Ruby has the ability to bring ease from fevers and various aches and pains, while being beneficial to the circulation of blood, which includes also anemia, menstruation, rheumatism, arthritis, spasms and blood diseases. An excellent healing crystal influences the heart chakra and resonates to those born under the astrological signs of Cancer, Leo, Scorpio and Sagittarius. It is also the birthstone of July and a traditional crystal for the 15th and 40th wedding anniversaries since it is symbolic of enthusiastic romance and devotion.

It is useful for increasing cheerfulness and enhances the intuition and self-confidence; it is a crystal of restoration and survival. Ruby has the ability to influence and stimulate various emotions, sentiments, and sexual energy, while also eliminating nightmares. It encourages generosity and happiness.

An elixir of Ruby crystals has the ability to ground the spiritual energy of your body, while awakening the spirit of a higher source of love.

Wow! I had no idea there was so much history behind Rubies. I guess it makes sense. I have never been into superstitions or astrology, but the history aspect is really fascinating!

Thanks Props, I'm glad you enjoyed the article. I suppose since so much time has passed since the time of the ancients a lot of good and interesting information about many things including gemstone crystals has become a bit lost to the modern world.
