With jobless rate at the highest since 1983, Americans are looking for ways to not only save money but to be able to provide the essentials of life to their families - essentials such as eating.  Eating out, however, is a luxury that usually gets cut first in budgeting times.  But, there are a few restaurants who provide a savings if you take advantage of them - especially if you are feeding children.

Arby’s is now offering Wednesday Freebies. All participating Arby’s across the nation are jumping on board for this cool summertime deal. Just check with the Arby’s closest to you to make sure they are taking part in this offer. Already underway, every Wednesday through the month of August, Arby’s will offer something free.

Come and enjoy free offers at Arby’s every Wednesday throughout the summer.  Then, continue to enjoy savings Arby’s offers with their 5 for $5.95 deals going on continuously.

When the school year begins again, continue the Wednesday savings at participating McDonald’s all year long.  Many McDonald’s partake in family night on Wednesdays.  This means that there is quite often fun family activities & free ice cream cones.  It also means that Happy Meals can be purchased for $1.99, or sometimes $1.00 off each meal is offered instead.  Whichever your closest McDonald’s is offering, it is quite a savings and a fun time for the kids as well.  For a family of 4, what would normally be over $13.00 in Happy Meals gets lessened to a total spending of closer to $8.00 instead.

Not to be outdone, participating Burger King offers .99 cent kids meals on Tuesdays.  This is for the hamburger meal.  There is a slight extra charge for nuggets.  Still, many Burger Kings have fun events as well as the .99 cent kids meals.  Of course, they usually offer their paper crowns for children to wear.  Even without the crowns, clowns or face paintings, who can beat a meal for under a dollar when you’re eating out.

Check with your favorite local restaurants which you would like to frequent more often.  Who knows they may offer a special family night deal that will save you money and allow your family to share some time together out and about without spending your entire paycheck.

Great suggestions! It is always a good feeling when you know you are saving any amount of money these days. Also, if you have a Rally's or Rax near you, their prices every day are sinfully much lower than the competition, PLUS they do deals for different days of the week, and they vary. I have gotten .69 cent cheeseburgers and I thought it was a good deal.

Even your local Chinese food establishment can be a good deal. We poor folk need to consider the cost of the same meal prepared at home. Good topic!

Good tips for those who don't mind fast food. But there is really no free lunch. FF restaurants make their biggest profits on soft drinks (often watered down), which is why some freebies come only with a drink purchase. It's fun to feel comped these days - I guess that's the idea, but the drinks can be pretty costly.
