EIGHTH IN A SERIES OF MONTH-RELATED MESSAGES BY SIKH GURUS:
SPECIAL ABOUT THE MONTH: This is the eighth native or Desi month in Indian Mysticism and Astrology, when the Sun transits through the 7th sign of the zodiac, Libra. In the western system, it transits through the 8th sign of the zodiac, Scorpio. In the Punjabi and many other Indian systems, it is the seventh month.
The month of Katak gives us the message that we harvest what we reap so we should not blame others for the results of our actions. By forgetting God, the diseases come to us and the only permanent cure is to remember Him. If we separate from Him, we may fall into the trap of ignorance for A long time like Moola Khatri.
You see, the bond of ignorance is bitter at the end. Only the mediator or communicator, the true Guru (Satguru) can help us. Such actions produce the fruits to be eaten by us. However, once the good seeds sown in the past bear their fruit we come back to reunite with Him who dispels all sorrows and disharmony.
THE DIVINE MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF SCORPIO, THE KATAK BY SHRI GURU NANAK
In the month of Katak, we find within us the flame of wisdom, which dispels the darkness of ignorance, the cause of descending of evolution in the self. The darkness of ignorance is the root cause of evil that is a force without power descending the soul. We need the power of wisdom to give direction to the available energy of knowledge by sowing the seeds of wisdom and serving the so-grown tree of wisdom.
Scientifically, the presence of direction gives the especially fruitful effect to space, time and energy. It is the fruit of relevancy and relativity. The randomness or wandering desires and deeds in different directions also need it to lead for the evolution of the soul for which the body is just a vehicle. By saying it is a vehicle is a metaphorical term conveying that we use it to travel on the Divine Path of Ascendancy.
Shri Guru Nanak says that this power of flame of wisdom gives the light, warmth-giving direction to our infinite creative energy present in the form of information, knowledge, experience and wisdom.
THE DIVINE MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF SCORPIO, THE KATAK BY SHRI GURU ARJAN
In this month of Katak, says Shri Guru Arjan that all the worldly loves, which are out of affection, seem bitter because these are full of energy yet without any power. These are those forces which create obstacles as resistance does to the current. The spell of ignorance as affection and attachment, the very power of descending, dissolves, and selfless love melts the bitterness of sorrows and pains due to the spell when we give direction to ego.
As a single wave gets to greater levels of energy by resonance, in the same manner is the effect of congregation. The ego loses its hold or force when directed, as when the force, with direction, covers some distance, it results in work.
Thus, the directed ego works and serves us. When directed towards super and Supreme Ego, this very ego works as a servant. In other words, our energy becomes the power in the company of the wise called, congregation–a spiritual and divine platform of worship.
