FIFTH IN A SERIES OF MONTHLY MESSAGES BY SIKH GURUS
SPECIAL ABOUT THE MONTH: This is the fifth native or Desi month in Indian Mysticism and Astrology, when the Sun transits through the 4th sign of the zodiac, Cancer. In western system, it transits through the 5th Sun sign of the zodiac, the Leo. In the Punjabi and many other Indian systems, it is the fourth month.
The month of Sawan gives us the message that we enjoy the divine bliss, while experiencing the love and oneness with the Eternal Being (God or Waheguru). The divine Word, his Naam thus becomes the helper and other false hopes, illusions and thus ignorance seem tasteless.
To drink the water of eternity pouring as His Naam, the congregation of His beloved ones is necessary. His divine touch gives life blessed with peace of bliss, yet He bestows it though His Naam. The presence of remembering Him through Naam gives the love, unity and oneness.
THE DIVINE MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF LEO, THE SAWAN BY SHRI GURU NANAK
In the month of Sawan, we learn to experience the feelings hidden in the verbal and nonverbal expressions as the personal, the self-felt experience without any trace of separation. You see the Word has both meaning and feeling, like light is both particle and wave.
The words that give both meaning and feeling are known as Word. In the Word, no plural is used as the meaning and feelings are one, that is, our desire for Him along with service for His Creation.
You see that the meaning can give only knowledge, which is water of the sea that is not drinkable. On the other hand, meaning not only gives feeling but also an experience that if we go once through it, is for always.
For it, Gurbani says that the wise never get old while dwelling in ever-youthful soul and its beauty of wisdom. The body is just a vehicle for ascendancy. Even a moment of feelings of separation is not bearable in it. Shri Guru Nanak Says that this kind of love is the essence of divine union and oneness.
THE DIVINE MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF LEO, THE SAWAN BY SHRI GURU ARJAN
In this month of Sawan, says Shri Guru Arjan, that with harmony of thought and action, the purity of devotion and divine love is attained. When we do what we say, thoughts and actions are purified, it adds new milestones to the art and journey of ascendancy. At this level, the serving and remembering Him become two sides of one coin, the coin sealed with His Divine Will.
As one light in many colors remains the same in all colors, the difference lies only in the action. At soul level, we all are one, the same in thoughts–and it is the behavior where we differ. So are the coins, as the value of the congregation of two or many is the same, the value of these cannot be assessed.
The concept of crowd and congregation is not at all same, like noise and music. Congregation is just enjoyed in the company of the holy and wise ones, as they know its value. Only they know that in the Divine love He Himself resides. His Name is like the very coin. Let us collect this coin as a fruit from the Wisdom Tree for our Treasure of Wisdom.
