SIXTH MONTH IN A SERIES BY SIKH GURUS
SPECIAL ABOUT THE MONTH: This is sixth native or Desi month in Indian Mysticism and Astrology, when the Sun transits through the 5th sign of the zodiac, Leo. In the western system, it transits through the 6th Sun sign of the zodiac, Virgo. In the Punjabi and many other Indian systems, it is the fifth month.
For the month of Virgo, the Bhadron gives us the message that when we indulge in the illusions of ignorance, we forget God and forget that God cannot be pleased with outer actions or interactions, and such dry attempts fail. When the soul leaves our body, all those whom we always loved hurry to burn or bury the body and are afraid of the very dead body of ours.
Thus, the body completes its journey of sowing the seeds of action and harvesting of it. Not any of us, who do everything in harmony with His Will, ever sow the infertile seeds of ignorance and God himself takes care of them in everything.
THE DIVINE MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF VIRGO, THE BHADRON BY SHRI GURU NANAK
In the month of Bhadron, we are now able to dispel the web of false values and estimation of our own existence and that of life in general. The value and estimation is beyond our approach as His Will has created us. Our value system is not applicable to the coin of His Will. It seems illogical to assess and to value something by itself.
The fish cannot come out of the ocean to show its skills on the land; similarly our intellect is like a fish in the ocean of knowledge, so for us, as humans, it is difficult to grasp the idea of Cosmic Play (His Leela) and its value. Now, the feeling of reverence in devotion tries to awaken us to value the treasure of Grace present in His Divine Will.
So seeking conscience awareness to reach the highest of love in the divine guidance has now become our goal. Shri Guru Nanak says that it is attainable through the obedience of the holy and wise, the selfless ones.
THE DIVINE MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF VIRGO, THE BHADRON BY SHRI GURU ARJAN
In the month of Bhadron, says Shri Guru Arjan, that physical, emotional and mental level love is perishable. The attachments due to attraction are the spells of ignorance in which the hidden motive is to possess, so it is possessive love and is thus perishable, because of the value system of ego. Further, it is also based on contrast and comparison, and things that are not countable seem irrelevant; the concept of zero if applied to soul, all souls added together are beyond the concept of contrast and comparison.
To ascend beyond the physical or visible things appearing to be ideal by appearance, behavior and literally expressed high values, the hidden mask of ego is to be discerned with faith in spiritual values that are associated with the soul, the ideally self-felt.
Faith is the boat of spiritual or divine love being imperishable helping to pass across the sea of ignorance, filled with the water of ego and its negative energy of possessiveness opposing our ascending energy.
So, all that we get is not by actions, but by faith in our spiritual development and evolution.
