When seeking out a new web hosting provider, there are several pieces of criteria that most use to ensure the best possible provider is chosen for their web site. It is becoming increasingly more popular to seek out hosting companies that are either using green technologies to power their services or those that minimally give back to the environment with the purchase of credit offsets or green tags. One web hosting company that has opted to bypass the credit offsetting and is actually using clean, renewable energy resources is AISO.Net.

Solar and Water

AISO.Net is located in Romoland, California - one of the best locations in the US for using solar power. The company owns and utilizes 120 solar panels spread out between two arrays. These solar panels power not only the company’s data center but its office building as well. By utilizing solar energy, over 34,000 pounds of CO2 emissions are saved on a yearly basis. The overall effect of the emissions saved by this company is the equivalent of planting eight acres of trees yearly.

This web hosting company continues utilizing the power of the sun to incorporate natural lighting throughout its building. With windows and solar tubes placed strategically, AISO.Net is able to use natural daylight during non-evening hours to light up their facility. This saves over 600 pounds of CO2 emissions yearly.

If harnessing the power of the sun weren’t enough, AISO.Net also uses collected and filtered rainwater as part of its cooling system. Using this reclaimed rainwater within the company’s AC system and data center cooling systems enables them to further save over 72, 000 pounds of CO2 emissions on a yearly basis.

Plans Offered

AISO.Net offers three Linux OS based and four Windows OS based hosting accounts ranging in price from $9.95 to $50 a month. All plans include toll-free technical support by phone, hourly back-ups of both data and e-mail, and come with a 99.9% guaranteed up-time. AISO.Net gives all its hosting clients access to a control panel, provides custom error pages and standard scripting languages are installed (PHP, CGI, Python).

Customers who host with AISO.Net give up nothing with regard to standard hosting features. Premium spam and virus protection are incorporated into all accounts as is application level firewall capabilities. The hosting company offers a 30 day money back guarantee to all its customers – ensuring complete satisfaction.

Other Services

AISO.Net also offers domain name registration services at prices that are fairly competitive. Additionally, the hosting company does search engine submission and optimization for a wide variety of industries. One service offered that isn’t offered by many web hosting companies is web development. AISO.Net has built and enhanced corporate web sites, created web applications and are completely capable of delivering web design services as well. Those interested in SEO or web development services must contact the company directly for a quote.

Conclusion

When it comes to a truly green web hosting company that doesn’t skimp on services or features, AISO.Net simply cannot be beat. Take the time to research and compare – one would be hard-pressed to find a better green hosting deal.

This all sounds good, -but is it 'company spin' or are these verifiable savings? I ask because findings have recently come to light that using 'energy saving florescent bulbs' actually USES more energy than it saves in that despite the low-watt consumption and long-life, it requires substantially MORE energy to produce these bulbs in the first place and the environmentally required recycling to prevent the escape of toxic gases into the environment requires more energy still invested in the bulb(s.) Per capita, more energy was employed for the life of the bulb versus the use of the equivalent number of standard incandescent bulbs... Not really a savings. I am sure that other examples exist that are similar to this.. Here in Toronto in an effort to encourage more people to bicycle to/from work/other places, three lane highways in the city have been converted to narrower two-lane and bike-trail lanes. -Guess what? -same number of cars, -but moving slower. More idling time (burning more fuel, more bad-air days, etc.) and in the event of an accident, gridlock occurs. Ambulance response time is increased due to 'idling cars' in the way... . . Still, hurrah for the efforts and hopefully they are effective and real.

AISO.Net use solar tubes and windows to reflect the sunlight into their offices instead of using things like regular lighting or even energy saving bulbs. They actually use daylight rather than light bulbs. The savings I'm mainly speaking of in this article are the ecologically damaging emissions they save by using solar energy instead of straight electrical power. I do understand your points though the savings in this article are actually ecological emissions savings. By the way, thanks for reading my article stickman!
