I recently tried out StartLogic when my previous hosting provider, JustHost, raised its prices. I was also sick and tired of speaking with "tech support" agents who spoke very poor English and were posing as native English-speakers named Robert and Melissa. I just wanted a stable web hosting company with real live agents who I could speak with when I had problems with my hosting account or if I had any technical questions. I’ve heard of HostGator and LunarPages, but I wanted to go with one of the discount providers (under $5 / month) to see if I could get hosting service for cheap with good service.
I stumbled across StartLogic as I was researching web hosting providers, and I immediately noticed their combination of low pricing and emphasis on high-quality customer service. So I decided to give their free trial offer a try and signed up. The overall web hosting experience was similar to those of many of web hosting sites - you get your cPanel and you can choose to purchase a domain name or start with one you already own.
What I liked about the process was the ease of getting in touch with a real human tech support agent who could understand my needs and provide detailed help and advice. I got stuck in transferring my domain name over from my previous web hosting provider, and the StartLogic agent I reached via live chat was able to guide me through the process. I was able to transfer my domain, my old files, and get my new website up in less than one hour - very impressive compared to how long it took me with other hosting providers.
I’ve since launched another blog and an ecommerce store on StartLogic, and the process has been great. I did run into a few stumbling blocks (as we always do) - in one instance i couldn’t get Wordpress installed properly - I IM’ed a tech support agent and she was friendly and helpful and identified a configuration I needed to add for MySQL. She gave me the exact fix and pointed me to additional help pages in case I had further problems. Top notch customer service - I give them 5 stars!
I think when it comes to building your own websites, especially if you are not terribly tech-savvy, it is key to have a web hosting provider who will give you a helping hand. Sure, some premium hosting providers such as HostGator have a great reputation for customer service, but they are more expensive. I’m glad to have found StartLogic as a discount web hosting provider that also provides top notch customer care - its a rare combination these days.
