Finding a job today can be difficult and often time consuming but this article will give you tips and advice for searching and finding that new job.
EMPLOYMENT OFFICE - Check your local employment office for job opportunities. They will have the most complete and current employment information and the information is updated regularly. A lot of employment offices now offer their service online and you can check the information daily right from your own home.
NEWSPAPER - Keep an eye on the classifieds in your local and surrounding newspapers for any job openings that may come available.
WATCH THE LOCAL NEWS - New or existing companies or businesses that may be expanding or coming to your area will often hold a job fair to look for employees and most of the time, they will announce, advertise, or report this on the local news stations and in the newspapers.
HELP WANTED - Keep an eye out when you are out and about for help wanted signs. You never know when you may stumble across that next new job.
TEMPORARY AGENCIES - You can also apply for jobs through a temporary agency. A lot of times, employers may have a temporary position available that you can use to get by and pay your bills with until you find your next full time job and sometimes a temporary job could even lead to a full time position if you do a good job for the employer.
CRAIGSLIST - Checking the local job listings on Craigslist is another option. This is free and easy to do and you may find a full time job there or it could just be a part time job to get you through until you can find your next full time job.
DON’T PROCRASTINATE - When you do find a job listing that suits your needs and abilities, do not procrastinate. There is always another unemployed or employed person that may be looking for a new job and the competition can sometimes be fierce and overwhelming and that is why you should not waste any time when you have an opportunity. You don’t want to show up late and find that the job that may have been perfect for you was taken by someone else.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS - When going to a job interview or putting job applications in, dress for success and wear appropriate clothing. This doesn’t necessarily mean a suit and tie, but employers aren’t looking to hire people wearing dirty clothes or with holes in their jeans.
BE MANNERLY - Always be polite and mannerly when being interviewed for a job. The employer will take notice and it just might make the difference.
BE PREPARED - When you go to a job interview, have your resume with you and be prepared to answer any questions that the employer may have. Don’t be afraid to market yourself to them and tell them why you would be the best candidate for the job.
STAY ACTIVE AND FOCUSED - As I said in the beginning of this article, finding a job can be difficult sometimes and may take a while, so it is important to stay active and focused in your search. You need to realize that there will be competition out there but also know that you have your own personality and skills that make you who you are and that you will eventually find a new job or career.
