Facts About the March 1st Movement
The movement known as the Samil Movement or the March 1st Movement became famous for being one of the first displays of resistance shown by Koreans against their Japanese oppressors during the Japanese occupation of the Korean peninsula in the early 20th century. The date’s significance given to the movement is down to the historic event that began on the 1st of March 1919.
