Teas that give you energy

How caffeine can affect beauty, health, and energy levels

Tea contains caffeine so most teas that are not decaffeinated will give you some energy. But some teas will give you much more energy, maybe from more caffeine or other ingredients as well.

If you just want more caffeine than you could have coffee. Coffee with its strong caffeine content will of course give you energy but it also gives you that worn out and dragged out feeling when the caffeine wears off.

There are other ingredients in some teas that do give you more energy without that washed out caffeine feeling.

What is Eleuthero?

It is a distant relative Asian ginseng (panax ginseng). It is also known as touch-me-not and devil’s shrub, more commonly known as Siberian ginseng.

It has been used to increase stamina and endurance in Soviet athletes and stress related jobs to prevent stress-related illnesses. Also used in China for its invigorating vital energy qualities.

Eleuthero has been shown to enhance mental acuity and physical endurance without the letdown that happens with all caffeine.

I know of one such tea that contains eleuthero and that is Fast Lane black tea by Celestial Seasonings.

Mate

Mate is a tea like beverage from South America. It is made from the dry leaves of the Yerba-Mate tree.

Mate is a natural stimulant that doesn’t have the side effects of caffeine. It invigorates the mind and the body and is nutritious as well. Some Indian tribes in South America have been using it for centuries for boosting immunity, cleansing and detoxifying the blood, to ward off fatigue and stimulate the mind among other healthful benefits.

Mixing black tea with Mate is healthy in antioxidants.

One tea with Mate in it is called Morning Thunder by Celestial Seasonings. Another one is Guayaki organic Yerba-Meta tea found at iherb.com.

By combining caffeine with these herbs, you get the boost of some caffeine and the health benefits of the Mate or Eleuthero.

Caffeine free energy

If you want energy from a tea without caffeine, then many of the Ginseng teas can provide healthier energy than a cup of coffee. Celestial Seasonings has Ginseng Energy Wellness tea.
