Let’s face it, there’s a lot of TV out there that serves no purpose. There are countless programs that either numb the brain, or influence negatively, making it nothing but a waste of your precious time. I’m here to offer you a few programs that are worthwhile, and although you may disagree at first, I’m sure that if you give them a chance you’ll be pleased and maybe even learn something at the same time. Here they are:
1. Planet Earth
This may be the best piece of viewing material ever created. Not only is it enjoyable to watch, you take in information pertaining to the world you live at a phenomenal rate. If you haven’t seen the entire series, I highly recommend buying it.
The producers start off by giving you an overview of the entire planet. Climate, wildlife, and natural beauty are all well-captured. After the planet as a whole is introduced, they then move into separate sections of earth.
Mountains, fresh water, caves, deserts, ice worlds, great plains, jungles, seasonal forests, and the ocean deep are all examined in great detail. Learning so much and obtaining a sense of awe of our planet has never been so enjoyable. Capturing rare footage and narrating with great detail, the producers have truly shed light on the glory of our planet. Get this series.
2. The Office
This show has taken comedy to a new level. The writers are absolute geniuses. They manage to keep an addictive plot line and keep you laughing the entire time. The show has recently concluded the 5th season, and have set season 6 up for a brilliant start.
The great part about this show is that it is utterly original. It is sort of a fake-reality show, where the actors know the camera is there, talk to the camera, all the while making sure everything is complete fiction. The awkward humor is so well done I don’t know where they found these actors, most of whom haven’t done anything major before (besides Steve Carell).
3. Lost
This show is out of this world. It’s about a group of island survivors that arrived when their flight crash-landed. From human nature to time travel to the supernatural, this shows got it all.
With 5 seasons in the books, it is scheduled to end after its 6th season. The final season is set to air in January of 2010. The best part about this program is all the questions it brings to mind. It challenges the viewer and makes he/she make decisions based on fictional stimuli. Not too many television programs have the capacity to do this, and Lost nails it.
So there you have it. There’s plenty of other good TV out there, but take the time to view this material and you will not be dissatisfied. Learning, laughing, and thinking have never been so much fun, and I hope you can be a part of these enjoyable moments caught of camera.
