In today’s busy world and competitive life, we all get stressed and at some point of time, we feel down by anxiety. Though it’s completely normal to feel the pressure and to worry when things go hectic, it becomes overwhelming when you feel that it’s controlling your life. Excessive anxiety falls under the classification of Anxiety Disorder. But you can deal with it. There’s always a way you can overcome it and live a stress-n-worry-free life. Only, you have to try. Here are Ten Easy steps that can help you immensely.

1. Breathe Easy: When you really feel the stress try to breathe slowly. This is a very easy thing to do. This will calm down your mind and you can breathe out your anxiety and worry. A simple thing but can be very useful.

2. Write Down Your Problems: Why are you feeling so stressed? What is it that you are trying to share? Take some time out and write down all your problems. This is a good way to figure out your problems. By doing this you’ll realize the root cause of your problems. You may end up realizing that you have no control over them or those are not so serious at all! Save your energy for the bigger challenges of the life.

3. Stay Positive: You need to be positive. Try not to nurture negative thoughts in your mind. If negative thoughts come then replace them with the positive thoughts. Not easy but you can do it, you know we shouldn’t underestimate our mind.

4. Be Busy: This is a very good therapy. You might know an age-old proverb – “ Idle’s mind, devil’s workshop”! Don’t let it happen to you. Do something. By doing something you can keep your mind off the anxiety. When you wake up in the morning start doing something right away. This helps. Keep yourself busy all the day. Just sitting around and think about your worries makes things worse for you.

5. Find Activities You Like: Try to do something you enjoy. Whether it be a hobby or watching a movie, hanging around with friends, writing poetry, anything that makes you feel free. This will allow you to focus on the other things of life.

6. Exercise: Exercising and meditation can be a great way to manage your anxiety and stress. Exercise helps you to change the mood. This will help to lower the anxiety while also keeping your body healthy.

7. Deal With Problems Directly And Quickly: To eliminate the worry, try to confront them head-on. Thinking too much about the worry only increases it. If there is any hurdle between you and your goal, think how to overcome it and take quick action.

8. Talk To A Friend: Just like writing the things down, try to talk about your anxieties to someone whom you trust. Talking about your anxieties often alleviates them. Try to talk objectively with the real desire to get rid of your anxiety. Even if you do not get very helpful advice from your friend all the time but at least you’ll feel relieved.

9. Balanced Diet: Make sure that you are eating the right food. Take foods that have more calcium, magnesium and phosphorous. This will keep your stress down. Do not skip breakfast.

10. Smile: Try to smile! You know this is one of the easiest things to do. When you smile, your body releases two natural drugs known as Endorphins and Serotonin. They will relax you and bring you to a positive state in an instant. Just try to find a reason for smile and I bet you will find plenty!

There you have 10 very easy ways to melt away your anxiety. Remember that there’s no such thing as ‘stress-free’ life as stress is always around us. As long as we’re surviving, stress and anxiety are very much a part of our life. But what we can do however, is to create a shield around us just to protect ourselves from over-anxiety. Hope this little article helps you all a little!

This is good (and timely for me), Sourav. It reminded me of an old nugget of wisdom from the Dale Carnegie school of thought that I learned years ago. When super-stressed about something ask yourself, "What is the worst that can happen?" Imagine the truly most awful situation and picture yourself dealing with it. Then ask, "What is the best that can happen in this situation?" Imagine yourself squeaking past the deadline or whatever is making you anxious - maybe even getting a promotion and the boss treating you to dinner. Unlikely, yes, but the second scenario is just as unlikely as the first.
