It takes years upon years to truly retain all the memorized astrology information out there, even in the most basic ways.
By the time you get down to memorizing all twelve signs, their elements, root planets and overall characteristics, it can be difficult to consider that you haven’t even learned half of the entire science.
Many of us gravitate towards astrology to learn about others in our lives, or to see if we can see a predictable pattern develop from the forecasts of an astrologer. Money, love, happiness. These are all pretty general concepts when it comes to astrology, as they are main reasons that most of the population seeks out the knowledge the stars hold.
Only a small percentage actually delve further into astrology than just the basic Sun, Moon and Rising. Learning about retrogrades, planets, houses, compatibility or other deeper aspects, is left only for those who follow an immensely strong desire to take in all that info. They are the ones who truly answer the calling, and they are usually considered Astrologers. We seek our divine answers from them just the same as we would from a psychic.
Of course, none of this means that it isn’t a good idea to learn your basic fundamentals of Astrology. It’s very enlightening and interesting. Dare I say that some of us might even find a lot of use in warnings of lost money, relationship troubles or chances to improve our darker nature.
When it comes to basic astrology, I think many are misguided. Feeling that there is no background of substance to the knowledge they are learning. many will learn the 12 signs and characteristics, traits and out personalities, and yet they can’t seem to place those exact traits in anyone they know to belong to any particular sign.
It truly takes some years to really understand the nature of astrology, and how it can help vs. how it can’t. Not to mention, it’s such an abstract science, that even the most seasoned pro’s will tell you they don’t fully understand it themselves. Although they definitely have forgotten more than you and I will learn in the next century.
To give those of you, seeking some enlightenment, just a little easier understanding, lets talk about Sun signs, and how you can use them to relate to those around you.
To start us out, you must imagine, that around 80% of those who know anything at all about astrology, really haven’t expanded themselves to learning about anything other than Sun Signs. Which is of course, very unhelpful when you choose to relate your knowledge to everyday life.
The reason it makes it more difficult, is because your Sun sign does not represent you as a "whole". It doesn’t tell a person anything about the inner you, and is only a mere outward reflection to the world. The Capricornian horns, the cancer shell. They are the reflections we feel we should show to others. Even at that, we don’t always appear the way that we want to, so it can still be difficult to assume that a person is one sign or another, by their Sun sign.
Summary of this: Your Sun Sign is who you believe you are, your inner personality, or the person you want to be. The personality you take on to yourself, and attempt to give off to others. Or at least wish you could give off to others. This part of you might be very out and about, depending on your sun sign, but in general, it is very hard to assume anything, as most of our sun sign characteristics are masked by other parts of our astrological make up.
In order to use a person’s Sun sign to even make a close guess of the kind of person they might be, you at very minimum need to know their Moon and Rising signs. Let’s break those signs down, so that you can grasp an understanding of how they relate, when it comes to relating.
Moon Signs
Your Moon sign, or rather, the sign that the world really sees. Aries Arrogance, Libra’s Drama, or even Gemini’s Witty Anxious Chattering. These are all things that you might notice a person doing, and it would be more accurate to consider their outward behaviors as indicators of their Moon Sign, rather than their Sun sign.
Generally though, this is the side that you will only catch when a person’s guard is down. As a close friend, or in a comfortable environment. Even as more Moon aspects control a persons character, it doesn’t mean you will see it.
Rising Signs
This is also known as your Ascending sign, and is considered to contain the knowledge of a persons mannerism and outward appearance. This is definitely the part of a person that you will notice the most. The Taurian Bullish behavior, the Virgo’s Brainy Attitude, or even the Sagittarius Spontaneity.
Even from these brief explanations, it can be hard to understand the complete complexity of it all. In order to understand a person fully, it goes way beyond their three major signs, but even memorizing the largest parts of themselves, you truly won’t "know" a person.
Choosing to "Judge" a person by just their signs is silly, as each person is as different as their finger prints, and no person ever fits the mold "perfectly". This is why Judging a person based on their astrological sign, is not the greatest way to go about socializing. Instead, it is a much more useful guide to you, to ask what their sun sign is, and if they know their rising or moon sign. If they don’t have the slightest idea what you just asked them, don’t push it to far. This is the point where you can use your knowledge to make a guestimate of what their moon sign or "outer personality" might be.
Even at that, one should never Judge. The likelihood of you being wrong, and mistakes coming from that is high, and it is a much more useful skill, if you just observe and compare, instead of judge and label.
