Weight-loss is view by many at a daunting task. It’s seen a great wall that few have the effort to cross, at least this is what I used to think. Yet, loosing weight is not as difficult as many think it is. I’m here to guide you through a few easy steps to help you drop pounds and hopefully change your life.
First Step:
This is possibly the easiest step every, you will need: One piece of lined paper, one writing utensil, the ability to read and write. Now that you have these few basic needs, start writing! Write down your ultimate weight-loss goal for the year at the top of the page, make sure it is something realistic and reachable. Next, 13 lines down put your current weight. Be honest, if you lie to yourself this early on you’ll never reach your goal. Make sure you place the goal on the fridge where everyone can see. This will cause you to see your weight every time you reach for that favorite snack.
Second Step:
Now that we have our goal, I want you to change one habit in your life. This may seem simple but the habit that you choose is very important, be sure you pick the one you feel has contributed most to you being over weight. When I say change, I don’t mean to go out for Tacos instead of Burgers every night. I mean something more along the lines of instead of eating fast food, cook your own food at home and take it with you to eat or go to restaurants where food is prepared instead of just deep fried. Write this change on a separate piece of paper and post it next to your weight loss goal.
Step Three:
Continue to live with the one change in your life for a month, make sure you stick to it! At the end of this month, write your wight one line above your current weight on your goal sheet. You will see the difference (if any) that the changed to your habit have formed. If you feel this is sufficient weight loss, stop here. If you feel you need to make more of a difference, it’s time to add another habit to your change sheet. These baby steps will allow you to slowly change your life rather than just going on a quick diet. Follow these changes for the rest of the year, if you don’t you’ll never gather the will to change your life.
My changes:
- Stop eating fast food. Month 1
- Stop drinking sodas. Month 2 <This one was very hard but I’ve started drinking a lot more water because of it.
- Start taking martial arts for exercise. Month 3<This is really the only exercise I was getting at this point.
I’m still in month 5 but I’ve lost about 20 pounds. Try these steps and continue adding changes until you’re happy with the path your life is taking. Remember: Be the change you wish to see.
Good luck my fellow lazy humans!
Disclaimer:
I am not advocating nor condemning any fast food or soda chains, trademarks, or the act of eating/drinking these products. I was just using my own goals as examples.
