"A Buddhist gives off compassion as a tree gives off oxygen."

"Travel this path of life as a mist travels the valley, never seeking, never wanting, never disturbing - but as opportunity allows permeate yourself with experience and share the message of compassion, humility and mercy that are at the heart of the one soul. Seek only to conquer yourself, confront injustice as you will, but never allow yourself to desire anything that is not already part of your life."

"When glad, celebrate. When sadness or loss occur, grieve. Joy will then abound in all ways and in all moments of your life."

"Never judge. To say "witness the beauty of THIS day, this sunshine, these green fields.... " this is a potential error that will lead others astray. Seek to embrace the glory in all experience, for without cold warmth would have no meaning, without rain the land would parch barren under a sun merciless that would become your hated foe."

"Simply look outward and laugh with the wonder of a child. Welcome strangers as a puppy welcomes any person it meets. Begin each day with a clean-paper mind."

Thus - feng shui? The placement of buddha or other sacred objects? This would to me be an opportunity to share choices both sacred and profound with a loved one, a child - or if alone, to study the words of others still lively, within books.

As you have lifted my day, with your simple question.

Namaste, friend.

I am assuming you mean the Happy Buddha, the bald guy with a big belly and big smile, and not the Sakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha. The Happy Buddha is believed to attract positive energy into the space it occupies. Many Feng Shui practitioners use the Happy Buddha to help lift the energy of the space and help dissipate clashing energies.

The position of the Happy Buddha should, ideally, face the main door. This way he can greet people as they come into your home or business. He can also help block negative energy from entering the property as well.

You will notice the similarities between the Happy Buddha and Santa Claus. Both have a big belly, both have a big jolly smile, and both brings about gifts. Coincident? You can decide.
