John, I believe religion does extend one's life. I have read that researchers believe it can reduce risk of death by 20%. Attending church services, joining in a community worship, partaking in parish charity or volunteer activities, teaching Bible School, all contribute to feelings of self-esteem, positive feelings and lifts of depression. Persons of faith find hope and peace through life events and are supportive of others who go through them. Family relationships can be strengthened and bonded. It can help reduce your blood pressure, renew your inner energy and strength and stimulate good sleep habits. One's faith can alleviate the major losses in life and can have a profound effect on coping with deaths in the family, having an operation or even a fear of flying. Anything that reduces stress or worry in one's life will certainly have the effect of extending one's life. "With God all things are possible". Marie
