In the past, maybe on impulse, you may have given someone a gift in time or material value to someone when they were in need. After you did that, within a short amount of time, did you receive a similar or even greater blessing returned from another source that related? If you did, could you share it with us?
This has happened frequently in my own life. One example: We were a young family with small children on a strict budget, when we were invited to a wedding. Having no dressy clothes, I went in search of a dress and found a black one on sale that was beautiful, it fit me perfectly and I felt like a million dollars in it. We had a great time and that next week, my next-door-neighbor who was on a stricter budget than us, asked me if I had a dress she could borrow to go a party. I took out the black dress and noticed the happiness in her face when she came out after trying it on - it fit her perfectly. After her party, when she returned it to me, on impulse, I told her she could keep it - she was so happy and pretty in it - and she had another party that month and I didn't have anything coming up. She was so ecstatic that it made me happy, too. Three days later, my mom stopped in to see me and had shopping bags in her hands. She did not know anything about my dress or my neighbor. She had been to a sale and God bless her, she thought of me and bought me some treats - no special occasion. Inside were new clothes and a black dress. It fit me perfectly, and was similar to the one i gave my neighbor PLUS there were slacks, sweaters, and blouses in the bags. A coincidence? I don't believe in coincidences because this happens so often with me. Blessings in twofold from God? Prov. 19:17 "When you help the poor you are lending to the Lord--and he pays wonderful interest on your loan!" Has something like this ever happen to you?
About 10 years ago my mom was going to have knee surgery, but before she did she had to go in to the hospital for a test on her heart to make sure she could handle the it. My dad said he didn't want anyone to come. No one was going to go, but about 5 days before the surgery, I spoke with my sister and we thought it would be better if one of us went. She said she would pay for 1/2 of the flight if I went. I decided to go, but because it was such short notice, I was having trouble getting a flight to Florida. I was living in MI at the time. I spoke to my former sister in law about this, and she said she would see if she could find a flight for me.
While I was at work on Saturday, she said she found me round trip flight leaving on the next Wednesday for $150.00, which I thought was a pretty good deal since it was Easter week. She even said she would drop me off at the airport on her way to work.
After I got to Florida, my dad offered to pay for my flight, I told him it was not necessary, but he insisted on paying for 1/2 of it, which I accepted as I have learned to never turn down anything good that is offered to you.
Everything went well, and I returned home. I got in touch with my sister in law and told her I wanted to pay her for my plane ticket, to which she said, she wanted to pay for the ticket.
A week after that, my sister sent me the promised half of the flight money she promised me. In the end, I actually ended up having my ticket paid for twice. I figured I was supposed to be there.
Cheril, love it! It sounds like you had multiple-returned blessings here! Your decision to go and be with your mom was your gift and you were rewarded back and then some. The best thing about returned blessings is that we don't expect them and when they happen we say, wow, that was something. And the uplift is returned to you for the uplift you did. Thanks for sharing, it is a beautiful story. Peace and blessings to you.
