The government has pumped billions into the banks...so if you were the government, where would you put the money?

The government in United Kingdom has spent billions bailing out the banks and there are still holes to be plugged up. Personally, I would have written off some of people's bad debts freeing them to spend a little more. So what would you have done with the bank's billions?

Public-works projects for our crumbling infrastructure that would provide immediate employment so that families could stop losing their homes and their dignity as the landslide continues.

Very good ideas people.  I just wish the government would take these into consideration.  As in business, people are the most important asset in an economy, in a business and in a country so surely looking after them is the way to go.  Throwing money at the institutions that are partly responsible for the collapse seems topsy turvy to me.

They should lower taxes and reduce entitlement programs which destroy initiative and teach people that the government will be there to catch them when they fall.

During the Depression of 1920-21, President Harding, along with the Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, lowered taxes on corporate profits and left income tax, which was 8% (!!!) alone.  Within 18 months the economy had rebounded until the Depression of 1929 where Hooveer and FDR used the heavy hand of government to "fix" the economy.

I agree, get rid of all debt! On top of that, abolish the federal bank and all unconstitutional laws! Seriously people, the constitution is supposed to govern our government, not to govern the people!

If it were my job to correct the economy, I would get rid of corp banks and only allow local banks if any. On top of that, if the people were with me, I would get rid of money all together and work sustain trade only.

On top of that, if the government wasn't broken down, I would take just about everyone currently in it and put the real citizens in charge of it. As well as requiring corporations to stay far far away from the government.

Such great ideas! Keep them coming.  I hope Obama and his ministers are Factoidz fans!  It seems like common sense to me. Deal fairly with the 'ordinary' man and he will respond.  At the moment, in the United Kingdom, it is the big corps that are getting the most help.  They are certainly not passing it onto the consumer.  They are raising or maintaining ludicrous fees and charges and getting away with it.  Self-regulation is a joke and people are generally unhappy.  But the answers seem simple...
