Why was my last article's title changed?

Okay I enjoy writing for your site. I truly do. But there have been instances where my work has been edited. I understand it's a business. But the reason I did not want the Ten Commandments spelled out in the title per the last article was simply this reason; the people who are turned off by that won't read it. I was writing it to the people who normally do not read religious articles. Therefore I wanted the title to remain the way I left it. I hope you understand and do not take offense. But I use music as a lyrical tool to envelope readers who normally tune out on such subjects. Thank you for allowing me to write on factoidz.com. But if the changing of titles continue and this is not the first time, I am going to have to say "Peace" and exit. No disrespect, but I consider my style "art."

Myself, I would rather the title match the content. If I were feigned into viewing an article whose content failed to match its title I would be likely to 'back out' causing a 'page impression' and not a bona~fide 'view/read.' (TITLE: "Top 10 Disney Movies of all Time" with CONTENT: "Why people are not attending Sunday Services" would really upset me.)

It might also be an SEO-thing; content whose major keywords in the content substaintially fail to match the TITLE might be flagged as 'black hat' and improperly queued for indexing (think 'sent to the end of the line.) I can't say for sure. I wish Factoidz offered header-tags (h1, h2, h3, etc.) which are high-value elements in a web page for web crawlers/'bots.

For what it is worth, Factoidz has changed the TITLE on a few sumitted articles of mine and I found that they are pretty good at it and trust their suggestion.

Cole, the reason we change title names is for SEO purposes and writing for the web. While some of the titles I've seen on your articles are catchy and witty, they do not work for web writing.  Writing for print is very different than web writing, which is a hard adjustment for many authors.  If you choose to leave here and write for another site (at least the reputable ones), you will find your article will get flagged or even returned to you to create a SEO proper title.  Your title gets indexed into the search engines by the title and if that title is not one that will generate page views, editors will flag it. I write for two other sites and the editors there are always sending back articles for title revisions to people as I see them discussing it on the forums.  Here, at least we try to tweak them if it's a minor change on an infrequent basis, versus waste the time to return the article to you for editing.

I realize it may sound boring to title an article so factually, but you have to realize your title is what helps people find the article.  Does it really matter if your style is "art" if no one can search the Internet and find it?

I agree with thestickman and prefer not to be "enveloped" into an article that I normally would otherwise "tune out" (i.e. have no interest in) regardless of its content.
