For those of you looking to burn a few calories, look no further than your own front door. Okay, so you will need to walk out the front door and enjoy the beauty of your neighborhood.
Many people think they need to join the latest club and be like everyone else, pay so much money a year and still feel they weren’t getting any where. Sorry folks, but this is not true, frugal living has one on you and a great way of getting into shape in more ways than one.
Let’s get started to burning those much needed calories, quickly.
1) Start drinking a lot more water. A good way to get rid of certain toxins in your body is to flush your system. Many toxins that we take in actually make our bodies retain a lot of fats and other nasty stuff. Mind you you don’t have to just stick to water, but be careful in what you do drink. If you want to flavor your water, reach for a fresh lemon, some cucumber, etc.
2) Now let’s get to exercising. Don’t push yourself start out light. Many times people get started and end up burning themselves out within the first week. Take it slow and schedule yourself an appointment to exercise, that’s the best way to go. Start by scheduling a couple of days during the week, for example Tuesday and Thursday. Pick a time. Then just like a normal appointment, DON’T BREAK THE APPOINTMENT.
3) Get on some tennis shoes and head out the door for a nice walk. The first time out, walk for 10-15 minutes. This will help you to find your groove but not make you over tired. Doing a high paced walk will get your heart to pumping and make you feel pretty good about your self. If you want to add a little weight training. There are great ankle weights that you can pick up at most super centers, athletic stores, etc. Start out with about 2 to 5 pounds.
4) While walking you may want to do some arm exercises as well. You can do circles, stretches and much more. This will add to your work out and take care of the upper body as well. The more movement you do, the more calories, your body will burn.
If you feel simple walking is not enough, then shake up your routine by adding other forms of exercise. For example, how about taking a bike ride, jogging instead of walking. Doing aerobics in your home with a dvd instructor. There are lots of ways to add and there are lots of ways to take away as well. Especially if you feel something is to much for you.
Don’t forget to change your eating habits as well, it is important. A good way of doing so, is to add in some of those wonderful fruits and veggies. Typically by adding in more fruit, you can eliminate some of your sweet tooth cravings. Also increase your water in-take. When you work out you tend to loose more water and it is best to keep hydrated while working out, it helps to keep your muscles more flexible and keeps you from cramping.
