What happened before the Big Bang?

What happened before the Big Bang?

Good good question.  I will first tell you that nobody on earth can give you a factual response to that question.  You will however receive hundreds of theories, opinions, and arguments.  My intent is to explain my BELIEF, use it how you wish.

In college I often questioned the Big Bang theory.  Although not religious, I do believe in God and the Lord Jesus Christ.  I pray frequently, read the Bible from time to time, and often reflect on my personal being in regard to my relationship with the Lord.  I began to question the Big Bang theory when beleive it or not some classmates and I were discussing the theory of creation.  A friend said it best to me, some things we cannot understand or comprehend and it is then that our faith needs to take over. Trust and have faith. That’s not to say we cannot question.  Questions help us to learn and grow.

So, the Big Bang.  When I heard this as a child I thought cool, all these gases etc. exploded and by some chance we all came to be.  Ok, so where did all of the gases come from?  Nobody could answer.  I mean, there I was a young kid being fed this wonderful THEORY but without the facts or answers.  Our minds are shaoed in such a way that we think chronologically.  There is a beginning, middle, and end to all of life’s events. Life and death, school, economic times, etc. etc. etc.  We therefore attempt to think of the universe as having a beginning with something starting the process. BUT, one BIG downfall is we attempt to explain with our own frame of mind.  What I mean is, there is so very much that we do not understand. Making conclusions, assumptions, or arguments based on limited information is not good.

Consider ancient medicine.  Years ago antibiotics were all the rage! The cure to end all sickness.  Now we learn that these same life-saving medicines have damged our environment, created hyper-illness, created havoc and inbalance in the body.  Don’t get me wrong, I beleive in the value of medicine and there are needs for antiobiotics, but we are learning that they alone might not be the answer.  Same goes for our theories of the beginning of life.

So, how does this correlate with my faith?  I mean you could make the same arguments for the theory of creation, right?  Ok, here is MY answer: Do you or do you not believe there is more to life than what your five senses can comprehend?  Is there something more than what you can see, feel, smell, hear, or taste?  How about LOVE?  An emotion.  Are emotions consider in scientific evidence?  What makes your heart continue to beat? How do we sometimes sense times of trouble before they happen?  There is so much that man cannot comprehend and it is our attempt to use science to explain God’s creation within our own capability.  Certainly God’s methods and ways are higher than ours.

So MY belief is that God created, maybe he used a Big Bang, maybe not.  Whatever the circumstance, does it matter?  Perhaps when we pass from this life to the next we’ll learn and understand more, actually I am sure we will.  But today, don’t rule out faith.  God is in your heart and sometimes giving that a chance will provide the answers you need.  God bless you.
