What Women Want for Christmas

DIY old-fashioned Christmas decorations

Okay, I’ll admit it. Women can be very tough to shop for. Some of us women recognize this and will drop hints to our husbands and boyfriends. But expecting men to pick up on these clues isn’t always the best idea. So, with just a couple months before Christmas, here’s a small list of gift ideas for women… gifts as unique as we are.

The “On The Go” Girl:

Stylish laptop bag. You’ll have a large price range on this – you can spend a lot if you go to a specialty store like Coaches, or less expensive if you get it at Best Buy. However, since this has a “style” factor, chances are you’re going to get this wrong. Take a good look at the types of purses she carries around. Are they natural colors or bright colors? Are they more plain (classic) or do they have wild designs on them? When you go to the store, look for a female clerk and ask her opinion: Which bag would she buy?

Personalized mug for the office. Okay so this is pretty cheap, but it can show her how much you truly know her. There are numerous online sites where you can find unique mugs that reflect her personality, or where you can design one of your own. If she has a logo for herself (like for a business or a blog), you’ll get bonus points for getting that logo on a mug.

The Super Mom:

Spa package at a local spa. Just be sure she’s the type of woman who enjoys getting pampered. Not all do. If she colors her own hair and she’s never gotten a manicure, she may not want a day at the Spa (and no, a handmade certificate for a back rub from you won’t substitute as an adequate gift – you should be doing that anyway). If she’s not a Spa girl, than you might want to consider buying a massaging foot spa.

Jewelry with your children’s gemstones. If you know your child’s birth months, than any jewelry store can set you up with the right birth stones. The only difficulty you might face with this is figuring out which type of jewelry to buy. If the only jewelry she wears is her wedding ring, then your safest option is to get these stones in a necklace. If money is an issue, you can look to places like Walmart for this.

The Domestic Goddess:

The Demy Kitchen Safe Touchscreen Recipe Reader. It’s a pretty high-tech way for her to access her recipes without the risk of getting a recipe book wet and sticky from cooking. This sleek little device isn’t that cheap. It’s available for about $300 at Amazon.com.

Monogrammed chenille throw blanket. Monogrammed items used to be more common decades ago than they are today. So they bring back a touch of elegance and class from years past. Plus the middle of winter is a good time for soft, chenille blanket. You can buy one for around $60 at Redenvelope.com.

When it comes to finding the right gift, you’re best to stay away from anything too practical. The best Christmas memories most of us have (men and women) is of being a child, amazed at the fabulous gift we’ve just unwrapped. So when you think of what to buy, think of trying to achieve that amazement of opening a fabulous gift rather than what she can use throughout the year.
