What\\\'s The Link Between Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez and The Pink Panther?

The Pink Panther is a diamond which forms the central part of the plot to the Pink Panther films. The diamond was name because the flaw in it, according to the movies, looked just like a panther. The main character is also called Pink Panther.

The very first Pink Panther film was shown in nineteen sixty three and it centered around the above mentioned flawed diamond. It came back into the series in nineteen seventy five with the ‘Return of The Pink Panther’.

Most people are familiar with Henry Mancini’s ‘Pink Panther Theme’ which runs through all the films, but not everyone realizes that the Pink Panther in question is a fabulous pink diamond which is a rarity in itself.

Pink diamonds are unusual; at least large, jewelery quality ones are. In the list of the world’s seventy five largest diamonds, only four are actually pink. Probably the best known of these beautiful naturally occurring stones is the Jennifer Lopez Diamond.

The Darya-i-Nur (also known as Darya-ye-Noor and Darya-e-Noor) is a soft, pale pink and weighs 186 carats. It is the sixteenth largest diamond in the world and is part of the Iranian crown jewels.

The Star of the South was the first diamond mined in Brazil to become famous. It is a browny pink cushion shaped diamond weighing 128.8 carats. When it was first found the diamond weighed almost twice as much, which is extremely rare because most loose diamonds weigh only a tiny fraction of this. This diamond was sold on many times and passed through many dealers and the last time it was bought, according to records was by Cartier.

Only 0.01% of all naturally occurring diamonds are pink, so this makes them very rare indeed. You are unlikely to find them for sale in an ordinary high street jeweler when you go to buy your next diamond stud earrings, or wedding ring. However, at a price, a specialist diamond merchant can probably get you a pink one and even help you to build (or design) your own diamond ring.

The Steinmetz Pink is a large diamond weighing in at fifty nine point six carats, or almost twelve grams. Its color is quite a vivid pink and it is classified as a fancy Vivid Pink. It took a little over twenty months to cut the stones because extra care was needed, given the exceptional rarity of the stone. The cut stone was first displayed to the public in May 2003, in Monaco.

Many celebrities flash their wealth by wearing pink diamonds. There are, after all, the rarest and most expensive colored diamonds in the world. Apart from Jennifer Lopez as mentioned before, Paris Hilton is a prime example of a star showing off enormous wealth by wearing pink diamonds. The clearer and more dazzling the pink diamond is, the more expensive it will be. Clarity is everything when you go shopping for a pink diamond, but it might not be as easy as you think to buy even a small one. Some smaller jeweler stores cannot even afford to stock pink diamonds which are most highly priced on the market.
