Where to Find College Campus Storage This Summer

Graduating college and finding a job: the importance of the internship

It’s almost that time of the year again. Students at colleges and universities across the country are clamoring to leave the books behind. But they can’t leave all their belongings on campus; they need some sort of college campus storage while they are away. For others, the summer may mean a trip abroad; but the problem is still the same: where can they leave all their stuff while away?

And so it begins, the hunt for some form of college campus storage that is: (1) inexpensive (2) hassle-free. The fact of the matter is, whether it’s college students looking for storage or someone, anyone, looking for some type of self-storage, the requirements tend to be the same. No one wants to make it more difficult than it needs to be. Everyone want’s it to be cost-effective and the less work required, the better!

So what are the options for students?

  • Rent a moving truck?
  • Hiring someone to do it for you?
  • Buy all your buddies a bunch of beer and pizza, borrow 5 cars and do it all yourself?
  • Contact a moving pods company that offers college campus storage options?
  • Plead with mom and dad to drive 6 hours and move everything for you?

We know which option mom and dad would choose. What are the pros and cons of the others though? Moving Truck Rental: fairly flexible. Moving trucks can, at times, be rented for fairly cheap if you’re staying local. You still have to find a truck though and this could be challenging while you compete with thousands of other students all trying the same thing. Furthermore, once you consider costs of gas, time spent picking up and dropping off the truck, and on top of that, whatever the monthly storage fees will be, it can get expensive and time-consuming.

Hiring a moving company: ok, not really an option for the majority of poor and starving students. So, we won’t even go there.

Pizza & Beer for your friends: most likely the cheapest option, but really, how many trips back and forth do you want to make? And if your buddies are into micro beers, this could actually get expensive. Lastly, you’ll still need to pay for month storage, which can add up.

Find a company that offers portable storage containers, or storage pods for college campus storage: this type of storage is gaining in popularity, for good reason. A storage pods company can simply drop off these portable storage containers AT YOUR DORM. All you have to do is pack them. Call the company once you’re done and they’ll pick them up. When you return to campus in the fall, have them drop off the storage pod. No driving a rental truck back and forth, no having to buy beer for your buddies (or at least not as much) and best of all, when it’s all said and done, you’ll be saving $$$$$$$.

Or, you can try and persuade your parents to do it all for you. Might work…but it probably won’t.

Door To Door Moving and Storage offers summer specials for college campus storage. Our portable storage containers and moving pods will make storing your belongings over the summer much easier.
